We promoted the UK’s first Green Film Festival, for our client and sustainable property developer Igloo Regeneration, who founded the festival with the support of property management consultants GVA and environmental campaigner Friends of the Earth. Leading a targeted campaign across five of the UK’s major cities- Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester and London, we created an effective and versatile media presence. This has set the Festival up for even greater things in 2012.
The project was important to Igloo, a company that takes very seriously its responsibility to promote an understanding of the issues related to sustainable living. We worked on this important, self-starting project pro-bono which relied entirely on the good will and energy of many to raise awareness of the three day event in May 2011.
Produced by volunteers from Igloo Regeneration and with formative links to the San Francisco and Washington DC environmental film festivals, the pioneering film fiesta featured a selection of the best films, documentaries and shorts that highlight climate change and other environmental issues.
Providing the UK’s media with cogent content designed to raise awareness and attract maximum audience numbers to the five cinemas involved, we enjoyed coverage across a diverse spread of eco-conscious publishers. Distribution online was particularly prevalent, with news sites and cultural blogs up and down the country, including the BBC and cinehouse, getting behind the inspirational event in support of the environment.
As a benchmark of our success, we secured previews of the Festival in The Guardian and The Independent, as well as extensive coverage in regional press Yorkshire Post, dluxe Leicestershire Magazine, and The Guardian Cardiff.
Overall, we secured national, trade and regional coverage across print, broadcast and digital media, resulting in 33 pieces of coverage worth £21,487 with well over 1 million editorial opportunities to see.
