Time and Tide Bell
Since 2009 a growing series of original bells have been ringing in the tides around the British coastline. From the Scottish Isles to the London docks, on beaches and rocks, piers and jetty walls, the Time and Tide Bell project is an evolving public art installation consisting of large, specially designed bronze bells that chime the changing tides. Its purpose: to celebrate and reinforce connections in local communities, between different parts of the country, between the land and the sea, between people and their environment.
